Rock resting in the grass during PAT training
Rock, a Treeing Walker Coonhound, was rescued by an amazing group called All for the Animals (AFTA). They are located in West Virginia and often rescue the dogs no one else wants. They provide rehabilitation (if needed) and foster care, and bring the dogs to the Bristol-Warren (RI) area for adoption. Rock is no stranger to hunger—when his owner passed away, he was left tied to his dog house and was on the verge of dying from starvation. Fortunately, he was found and rescued, and he completed a very long rehabilitation with Glenna and Laura (AFTA people in West Virginia). They took care of his medical needs and helped him become a healthy 75 pound hound. (He had lost half his body weight!) When he was ready for adoption, he traveled up to RI and joined our family. We think Rock was born around May 2010 (though that’s just a guess). Our beloved Rock died in late October 2017, from unexpected complications after emergency surgery for bloat. We miss him so much.
